Finding Information about Google Sites for VT Google Apps

Similar to Web Hosting services, VT Google Apps allows current faculty, staff, and students to create, publish, and share a Web site at no charge.

The account name or user name in Google's documentation is username@gmail.com; however, you will always use ABC@vt.edu but replace ABC with your PID. If you have forgotten your password, follow the instructions at Change VT Google Apps Password / Forgot VT Google Apps Password.

Moving Files to Google Drive for VT Google Apps Using Cyberduck in Mac OS

  1. If they are not already installed, install Google Drive for Mac and Cyberduck.

    1. Install Google Drive for Mac by following the instructions at Install Google Drive on your Mac or PC.

    2. Install Cyberduck by following the instructions at Connecting to Web Hosting in Windows and Mac OS.

  2. If it is not already running, start Google Drive.

  3. Start Cyberduck.

  4. For each file and folder you want to move to Google Drive:

    1. In the Cyberduck window, select the file or folder.

    2. Click the Action button.

    3. Select Download To.

    4. Select the Google Drive folder.

    5. Click the Choose button.

Moving Files to Google Drive for VT Google Apps Using WebDrive in Windows

  1. If they are not already installed, install Google Drive for PC and WebDrive.

    1. Install Google Drive for PC by following the instructions at Install Google Drive on Your Mac or PC.

    2. Install WebDrive by following the instructions at Downloading and Installing WebDrive for Windows.

  2. If it is not already running, start Google Drive.

  3. In Windows Explorer or File Explorer, open the Google Drive folder.

  4. Start WebDrive.

  5. For each file or folder you want to move to Google Drive:

    1. In the WebDrive folder window, right-click the file or folder.

    2. Select Copy.

    3. In the Google Drive folder window, right-click an empty area.

    4. Select Paste.
