Zoom is a versatile video conferencing tool that unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, group messaging, and a software-defined conference room solution into one easy-to-use platform. You can host and join Zoom video conferences from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Scheduling Meetings
You can schedule meetings in the Zoom desktop client, on a mobile device, or in a web browser. For Microsoft Outlook instructions, see Scheduling from Microsoft Outlook below.
- Go to How to schedule a meeting and click on the tab for your platform for detailed instructions:
- Windows | macOS | Linux

- Zoom Web App
- When logging into Zoom, make sure to use Single Sign On (SSO) with your Virginia Tech Username (PID) and password to log into your VT Zoom account.
- If you've forgotten your PID, go to Finding My Forgotten VT Username (PID).
- If you've forgotten your PID password, go to Changing or Resetting My Password.

Scheduling from Microsoft Outlook
Install the Zoom Plugin
The Zoom Plugin for Microsoft 365 is only available for PC. If you have a Mac, use the Outlook Web App instead with the Zoom add-in for Microsoft Outlook.
- Go to the Zoom Download Center.
- Download and install Zoom Plugin for Microsoft Outlook.
- Restart Outlook.
Schedule the Meeting
- Open Outlook on your computer and go to the calendar.
- Near the upper left, click New event. A new window will appear.
- Click on the Apps icon in the new event's menu and click on Zoom, then Add a Zoom Meeting.
- If you need to sign into Zoom, it will display a message Zoom wants to display a new window. Follow the prompts to sign into your VT Zoom account.
- Once you are signed in, the Zoom meeting information will populate in your new event in the title, location, and description fields.
- To change options, go back to the Apps icon, click on Zoom, then Settings and make any updates. Changes will save automatically.
- If you want more options, you may need to schedule the meeting in the web portal.

- In the Outlook event, add participants you wish to invite in the Required email field.
- Click Send.
