Video Content Management - Accessing My Media and Media Gallery (for Students)


Introduction

Kaltura is the cloud-based video management system behind My Media and Media Gallery, which are Canvas LTI tools. Note that:

  • Kaltura appears in some places in My Media and Media Gallery and in the company's documentation and user guides.
  • Course Gallery is how you access Media Gallery in Canvas.

Instructions

All Virginia Tech students have Kaltura accounts to use via Canvas. Go to any Canvas course site and on the Global Navigation Menu or the Course Navigation Menu, click My Media or Media Gallery respectively to view, upload, and manage your videos. 

Accessing My Media from Canvas

  1. Log into Canvas with your Virginia Tech PID and PID password.
  2. On the Global Navigation Menu, click My Media to view and manage your private videos.

Note: Students do not have accounts at video.vt.edu and will not be able to access their videos there.

Accessing Media Gallery in a Canvas Site

    1. Log into Canvas with your Virginia Tech PID and PID password.
    2. Navigate to the course where you'd like to view, upload, and manage videos associated with that course site. 
    3. On the Course Navigation Menu, click Course Gallery.

    4. Click Authorize if you are prompted.

    5. You'll go to the course's Media Gallery.
